My family loves getting Chuao chocolate and I like supporting a local business. Win-win!

This Ain't No Whitman's Sampler!

In 2012, I saw a Groupon for some "gourmet" chocolates from a California company called Chuao , so I bought my wife a box of chocolates and gave it to her on Valentine's Day. She and I don't get really worked up for piddly little "Hallmark" holidays, and when she saw this box of chocolates, (even though she really likes chocolate) she looked at the box like it was a Whitman's Sampler (boring box of chocolates), tossed it, unceremoniously, on the counter in the kitchen and literally forgot about it. I was pretty upset my grand gesture (the fact that I remembered Valentine's Day at all) was glossed over by my wonderful wife.
For two days, the box sat, unopened, on the counter in the kitchen. Every time I saw it, I became a little more dejected. On the third day, she and the kids were running late to school and for lunch, she grabbed the loaf of bread (the whole loaf), a jar of peanut butter, a jar of jelly, and the obligatory "dessert" box of chocolates. When she came home that evening after school, I don't think I've ever seen her be nicer to me for buying her anything. She was saying, "honey," in the most sincere and appreciative tone, "oh, my goodness, I absolutely LOVE the chocolates you got me!"
Apparently they were gourmet after all. So each year on Valentine's Day, she gets another box of chocolates from Chuao, and I get extra kisses.
This year, she was appropriately delighted with this awesome "box o'love" from her (and my) favorite chocolatier!
